Cairngorm Club meet with Jonathan Bellarby, David Moseley. From Auchallater. Along the track to Auchallater Lodge, then via path and line of fence posts to Carn an t-Sagairt Mór. There are two cairns - the second and smaller seems to be marginally at the highest point. We then went straight to Fafernie. There are two small cairns, the second of which seems to be at a higher point. We continued to Cairn Bannoch, the top at NO226821*, and Cairn of Gowal - it was warm and sunny. Continued to Craig of Gowal and Creag an Dubh-loch. We had some fun trying to climb a boulder whose top might be higher than the summit cairn of Creag an Dubh-loch. We went on to reach Broad Cairn and went down shoulder towards Corrie Chash so avoiding deviation on track. Went down the path to the SW end of Loch Muick and walked round the Glas-allt-Shiel side of Loch Muick to Spittal of Glenmuick. It was bright with clear weather all day. There was some mist seen on Carn an Tuirc etc but it did not reach us. There were snow patches and it was icy on the ground.
* Note subsequently added: This top has been found to be higher than the summit of Craig of Gowal, as defined in 1981, and so is now the summit of Craig of Gowal.
