We mountain biked the farm road to the start of the walking track then walked up the track to the newish Department of Conservation hut that has replaced the old Venturer Scout hut. From there we headed up on to the granite jumble that is collectively known as the Buckland Peaks. We climbed a few of the bumps to get views in differing directions. There are great views.
This area would prove tricky to navigate through if thick cloud or fog came in while you were up there unless you had an existing GPS track to follow.
