From the Mt Lowe East Trailhead at Eaton Saddle, I went through the Mueller Tunnel and continued another 1.5 miles to the turnoff for Tom Sloan Saddle. The trail drops to the saddle and up the other side. After a few false summits, I was on Brown Mountain. Good views, although it was a bit hazy on my visit. The real work begins when heading back, since it is nearly a constant or gradual climb most of the way.
