Saw a desert tortoise on the way up this peak! There were flowers everywhere and the Joshua trees were in bloom too. The crater at the summit was very interesting. Among the best summit views of all the HPS peaks I've climb thus far: San Bernardinos, San Gabriels, Tehachapis, Mt. Owens, Olancha Peak, Telescope Peak, and what I think may have been the snow-covered summits of Mt. Langley and Mt. Whitney just visible over the lower peaks of the Southern Sierra. There's an old register on this summit to which made for some entertaining reading.
