Arguably one of the best long hikes within two hours of Spokane. The trail head begins at Farragut State Park and, after a mile or so, joins the seven mile Scout trail to Bernard Peak. There are several fantastic viewpoints of Lake Pend Oreille Looking north and Mount Spokane toward the West. Add the moss covered rock formations and cliffs at the beginning of the hike; beautiful groupings of trees; occasional stream crossings; and long sections of uphill climbing to a summit overlook...you've got a winner. These last few miles are heavily forested and offer limited to no views of the surrounding area. Highly recommended.
