A bike approach was useful for Baril Peak & Mount Cornwell, although there are a surprising number of junctions and trails to navigate along the way. In retrospect, we should have gone right at the large clearing rather than left, as the trail became less bike friendly and we switched to hiking after about 8.5km. There was a few kms of bushwhacking and a couple of creek crossings before we got to the treeline and slogged up to the ridge of Baril.
The ridge was dry so we were able to follow the ridge all the way to the summit of Baril and then along down to the col with Cornwell. The ascent slopes of Cornwell was incredibly loose and not particularly pleasant! On the way down we stopped to look at the numerous fossils and visited the very cool cave, which was ice free. On the way back we found ways to cross all the creeks without getting our feet wet.
