Second foray on N Mullardoch this week. Big hills at the heart of the NW highlands still carrying some snow in the middle of June. Basically did the ‘boat route’ ridge walk varied to include minor summits Meall Bac a’ Chul-Dhoire (Tump 400-499m), Rubha na Spreidhe (deleted Munro top N of Lapaich) and Mullach na Maoile (Subsimm). No need to do Carn nan Gobhar having been up it a few days previously, so contoured round it’s west face (a rough heathery rock garden).

Early start to catch a 0730 speedboat ride http://www.loch-mullardoch-ferry.co.uk/ Fun way to start the day and £40 well spent. Meall Bac a’ Chul-Dhoire has great views down the loch and of surrounding hills and only added about 15 mins compared to the usual route up Socach from the landing point. Rubha na Spreide involved a 30 min out and back from Lapaich and has a fine cairn and fine views; a nice little top. The sun came out making it quite warmin the final descent enabling a leisurely dip and sun bathe in one of the pretty cascades on the Allt Mullardoch, not even any midges about.
