"Continued on to this "peak" after McFarland. It's a nice little hike. Despite there being no markers to speak of, it's pretty easy to follow the trail. There are some well-placed cairns along the way that help. The summit itself isn't much. Just a big rock and some trees. But there is a wonderfu viewpoint not far from there. "I've done all of the official trails in the park, and now we're moving on the to "secret" ones. This peak is an abandoned ski mountain. The trails are pretty easy to see, but are definitely not maintained. We went up the "ski lift" trail past the weather station. From the summiit, we continued on to Youngs Mountain for the full adventure. On the way back down, we took the trail down to the road and that one had an awesome view. "It hardly counts as a peak, but it was one of the last things on the island that I hadn't climbed. It's a super easy hike that comes out to a great open view of the ocean, and winds along the coast for a bit. Hiked in from the Schooner Head parking area, up to Great Head, then down to Sand Beach. A great way to finish the day. " — mikewilliamsjr • May 7, 2024
"My oldest son wanted to get outside, so far be it from me to not take advantage of that rarity. It's quick and easy. We popped up to the old chimneys and the new-ish monument dedicated to the trail maintainers. This supposedly now marks the highest point in the park (and the city). A short but enjoyable time outside. Off to Acadia tomorrow!" — mikewilliamsjr • May 6, 2024
