I got an early start and got to the trail head of Cecret lake at 7am. I enjoyed the quite hike to Cecret lake alone. When I got to the lake to my surprise I found that I was the only one there. I spent a few minutes enjoying the silence knowing that this place will be packed with hikers later in the day.

I continued up the trail over Cecret ridge and up to Sugarloaf pass. After a few minutes of searching I finally found the trail up to Mt. Baldy. It was behind the Baldy Express lift. The trail to Mt. Baldy was a short rock scramble up the side and then a long leisurely hike to the peak.

I then continued down from Mt Baldy towards Hidden Peak. Although I had been to this peak three times before (Including ones this summer) this would be the first time there without using the tram. After the shallow sloping trail ended, the service roads started. This meant a long road with many switch backs to the top. Since the trams hadn't started running yet I had this place to myself.

As I looked at the trail ahead of me I felt very timid of continuing on. I started towards the twins with the intent to turn back if the trail got too harry. Before I got to the start of the AM Twin trail I met a man that was going to the Twins also. This built my confidence just a little because he had summited a number of times. I followed him up the trail scrambling over the many boulders. I watched my fellow hiker get farther and farther ahead and again I was on my own. After a long, slow, hard climb I finally made it to the top of the east summit. After a quick breather I meandered over to the west peak and the summit.

I stopped for a quick bite to eat and to make some calls. (Yes I had cell service up there.) The weather had started turning bad from when I got up there so I decided to head back down. I quickly got back to the east summit and started back down. It was not long until I felt the first cold rain drop hit my cheek. As I am not a very experienced hiker of mountaineer I had no idea what rain might do to endanger my hike down. I continued my way down only with the thought of getting off the boulder scramble and on to some normal trails. As time past the rain got heavier and heavier. Below me I saw a service road that would take me back to Sugarload pass and back to my car. It was only a question of how to get to it. The land was steep and hard to get to. I came across a small break in the rocks where I could start to make my way down to the service road. It was long and steep. I struggled to maintain control over the decent and at time felt out of control. But finally I got to the road. Now only a long wet hike remained.

Now I was in Mineral Basin trying to get back to Cecret Lake. Once the adrenalin and terror started to vanish; and I came to terms of being drenched for the rest of the hike, it wasn't that bad. I finally got back to the pass, back to Cecret Lake (which was crowded not despite the rain) and back to the car. All in all a good trip.
