A long drive for a very short hike. Roosevelt County is flat this is one of the few bumps in the county. The exact "highest point" is a best guess thus simply walk around a bit. To get there use South Roosevelt Road 3 which runs east-west across the mesa. I came from Fort Sumner so took US-60 to Taiban where I turned south on NM-294. When the pavement ends turn east (left) on an unsigned wide graded gravel road. My NAV system called it Windmill Road but I saw on maps its also County Road 2-25, in any case the name will change to S Roosevelt Road 3 once you cross the county line. You can also approach The Mesa from the east using NM-267 and turning onto S Roosevelt Road 3 west of Floyd.
