Should have known better than to go past mystic lake when there was snow starting there, but after driving 9 hours to the trailhead, we were committed. Camped at the plateau sites below froze-to-death mountain. and then made the plod up to Froze-to-death that evening. Had an alpine start the next morning, easy walk across the plateau and side sloped below tempest to reach the Granite-tempest col. Cross the snow bridge and then decided we didn't have the time or weather to summit in the current conditions. Ascended tempest from the col directly, the Ice and snow we encountered on much easier terrain reaffirmed our decision not to climb granite today.
