The day after a 13 mile day in Shenandoah NP - we did Duncan and Strickler (across the valley). Everyone was pretty tired at the start and spirits were low. Beth and E were nursing painful joints (knees and ankles) but we soldiered on. We passed very few people on the way up to Duncan. We did encounter a person napping in an hammock at the top of Duncan. We silently skirted around their camp while reaching the overlook. From there we backtracked and dropped down on the east side of the ridge until we reached Strickler's scramble. Saw a young turkey vulture who was very curious about us as we scramble to the top. Lu played 'mountain hopscotch' (which is really just jumping on rocks as you run down the trail) all the way back to the car with me trying to keep up with her with a 15' pack on my back as we ran. Spirits were high in the afternoon. Low low's and high high's!
