Hit the trailhead about 8 a.m. Still some parking in the lot. Quick going up Mount Major Traill (blue) to the Brook Trail (yellow). The North Straightback link (green) was narrow and far less travelled. The climb was pretty steep and there is one place just below the summit of North Straightback that I had to use hands to climb up the rock. This slab also had a nice view so enjoy it because there is only a sign and cairn at the N. Straightback summit, no views. After a short rest, I followed the Dave Robert's Quarry Trail (white) to the South peak of Straightback, There were a couple of nice views of Mt. Major and Sunset lake along the ridge trail. At the S. Straightback summit, I chose the Blue blazed Mt. Major trail to descend and picked up the yellow Brook trail for a nice jaunt back to the parking lot. This is an awesome trail if you want some solitude. I saw 5 people on Straightback mountain. Everyone takes the blue trail from the parking lot up Mt. Major.
