Wonderful hike from the north trailhead. From NM 4 we followed Forest Road 289 and then St. Peter's Dome Road to the parking area/trailhead. Some very rugged parts especially after leaving Forest Road 289. Four-wheel drive and high clearance is recommended. Our Subaru Outback very cautiously/slowly made it with AWD and 8.7 inches of clearance. Before leaving we checked on the road conditions with the Jemez Ranger District Office of the Santa Fe National Forest to verify dry road conditions, because they had been muddy several weeks earlier. Few sprinkles on the hike back. Odd that we found two (2) geologic discs at/near the summit - see photos.
