Rough Butt Bald is visible from a friends cabin om Lake Glenville so we always wanted to climb it. We drove to the mountain on the Parkway. There is a parking area and a trail at the left side of the parking area. The trail was unmarked and did split. We proceded to continue uphill and eventually we reached the Bald. At the very top of the peak at the center of the bald was a pond. The pond actually contained small fish. How they made their way to the top of a nearly 6000 foot peak os Gods Guess. We also headed to Rough Butt side of the mountain where we found great views from the cliffs. My knees have gone bad and stopped me from hiking any longer which I hate but I am glad I hiked to the top of this awesome Bald!
