Randerside is a subsidiary peak of Great Dodd, its loftier neighbour, but serves as a good stopping /viewpoint on the ascent of Great Dodd. A sunny weather forecast tempted us back to the Lake District for a couple of days walking. We parked at High Row, walked up past the woodland and up onto Matterdale Common and up to Randerside. We had a brief stop here at 2390ft. with good views across to the northern peaks of Blencathra and Skiddaw, with the south west view dominated by the bulk of Great Dodd 2807ft. The walking is quite easy on these grassy hills. On the summit of Great Dodd, we enjoyed good views around the Lake District peaks. We then continued on our horseshoe walk of several peaks, Watsons Dodd, Stybarrow Dodd, White Stones, Hart Crag and Birkett Fell, before dropping steeply into the valley at Dowthwaite Head and walking a mile back up a country road to our start point.
