Leading a party for Waymark Holidays. 10 members of the party walked from Rifugio Gian Federico Benevolo and ascended Ghiacciaio di Tsanteleina and the NW slopes to reach the summit of Punta Calabre (3445m). On the glacier we roped up as two ropes, one led by me and one by Paul Carter. Another party came up to the summit from the French side, led by a French guide. When the guide heard me saying we were on Punta Calabre he said we were not and pointed to another mountain, saying that was Punta Calabre. I said I was sure I was right and pointed to the map to show the route taken. It transpired that the Italian and French use the name for different, but nearby mountains! We returned the same way.
