"Playas Peak is an impressive mountain when viewed from a distance. To access the peak, take (signed) Little Hatchet Mtn Rd off NM-9 just west of Hachita. Little Hatchet Mtn road is a high clearance vehicle road. Much of the road is decent but there are places where its rough. Due to its proximity to Playas Training and Research Center (PTRC) the peak has become part of the training experience for attendees.
