Started from the north, by the chapel on the Carpinetana (660m). There is an easier point to go from the big selva off via rerum novarum but wanted to climb what is obviously an ancient pass.
After a short while the main track ends. Take the path that leads to a stream in the middle. From here it winds slowly round the western side of the mountain, then up the valley SSE, indistinct in places. Muddy in places and earth clearly washed away. Definitely quite a bit of movement here. Beneath the earth, ground chalkier and more clay. Puddles of water not soaking away.
At a certain point as you near the Pian de Faggetta, the path veers off to the left (north), and rises up to exposed rock at the bottom of the hill. Continue here on a now marked (red) path or cutting along the bottom of the hill before the track heads very steeply upwards eventually reaching the rocks at the top. Follow the track south eastwards along the bottom until come to second climbing area where there is a defile and a faint and slightly precarious route up the cliff and to the summit. Part of this is about 5m via ferrata, but the ledge seemed relatively wide and stable to attempt without ropes. This takes you to an exposed ledge and some scrambling to the ridge. Here went to top of Perrone and then the close by peak to the south east.
Descended same manner (explored the path to the left of the climbing area for the north top, but this wasn’t a good access point and had to move on). Exhilarating to get on ridge. A good trek.
