Saturday afternoon had been spent at a Summits On The Air (SOTA) seminar hosted by the Wagga Amateur Radio Club. Sunday morning saw a couple of the local hills activated before participants started heading for the homes or next stop of their trip. Several of us drove up to the saddle below the summit of Mount Flakney VK2/RI-025 and briefly visited the actual summit. We choose to set up our radio gear on the knoll to the SW of the summit, well inside activation zone. I made 29 contacts, easily qualifying VK2/RI-025. We drove back down and headed separate directions.
I drove across to the locked gate on the track to Mount Burngoogee to park off the track. Walked to the summit of Mt Burngoogee VK2/RI-016 and set up at the trig. I set up the gear and made 12 contacts. Packed up and walked back to the car. Drove south and made my way around to below Peak 749 m VK2/RI-051. Parked and walked up to the summit to set up the gear, this time making 11 contacts. I again packed up and then drove back to Wodonga for the night.
