The summit of Peak 6314 offers great views of the Florida Mountains, the Little Floridas and the surrounding area. It's also a hike for those who want a little extra since it involves a short class III scramble to gain the top of the large rock formation that forms the summit. The hike to Peak 6314 is via Lovers Leap Canyon Trail which ends at a saddle not far from the peak; a user trail marked with small cairns leads the way to the peak itself. From the trailhead which begins at the end of the paved road the hike is about 1.3 miles one way. If the gate is closed, as it was when I hiked, then add 1/2 mile one way to that. This peak is in Spring Canyon unit of Rock Hound State Park. There's a $5 vehicle parking fee should you enter the grounds. Best to check the Spring Canyon website before going in you want to drive in.
