An interesting walk starting at the lowest dam in the Elan Valley complex. Parked at visitor centre and crossed by dam over bridge between the hydro-electric generator buildings. From here a steep set of steps up to the top of the dam, then along the side of the resevoir. You get to an old dam which, interestingly enough, was blown up by Barnes Wallis in the early 1940s as part of his experiments for the Dambuster raid in the Ruhr valley. Here the main climb starts twisting slowly back round to face north, the top being one of several craggy prominences. Lots of paths up here, I tried finding my way back down by heading north on the resevoir side, but gave up when it just looked too steep, but to the right it could have been done. Returned by same path.
