Ed needed Dry Brook Ridge this month so I met him at the Slide Mountain motel to car pool to the TH. Before leaving I met the owner who is a Cat 35er, 46r and working on other lists besides running various businesses. I haven’t hiked out this side of the Mill Brook road PA in years and was certainly surprised how faint the trail is showing very little use. The Dry Brook leanto is certainly not a nice spot to spend a night as the current landowners adjacent to the State land have installed posted signs literally 10 feet from the leanto. Your view is a house and roughly cleared land.
At the key viewpoint we wandered off trail to find the summit or at least the X on the map. There was a small pile of rocks next to a tree that might have been a cairn at one time. On our way back we visited the south peak and Peak 3040. On our way in we noticed several small fields of ramps between the TH and leanto so on the way back we harvested some making sure to pick from many plants for the least impact. A nice sunny day with clouds and thankfully less humidity than in the Hudson Valley for our pleasant stroll.
