After not getting out much lately I set out to do Junction Mountain. I read up in the Nugara book, and in the traditional fashion the Nugara hike lived up to the usual challenges. The creek/river crossings were fine. After that a fine ridge walk is described. Before I got to that however there was plenty of steep bushwhacking. Upon getting to the ridge things opened up and things were looking better. From one bump to the next. I pushed through to this peak. I had lunch, assessed the situation and decided to pull the plug based on my pace, feeling knackered and weather moving in. I descended the bowl to the west of the summit staying north/above of the drainage. I had cramps here and there, worked through it, got back to the trail and walked back. Right at the Sheep River crossing the weather came on and there was pea sized hail. I put on my water shoes and got back to the car. Not quite soaked. A relatively good outing.
