• A permit is no longer required for access to surrounding land or to climb the mountain.
• A 4WD or AWD is recommended to access the Base of Mt Meharry
• It was a hot and Sunny Day. Minimal shade due to sparse foliage.
• We took 3L bladder each of water.
• We took a small snack and lunch which we ate at the summit.
• Lots of Sunscreen and reapplication
• Long sleeves
• 1x member took hiking poles
• We saw 1 middle aged couple driving their 4WD to the summit (this is an acceptable activity)
• Mt Meharry is 2.5 hours drive from Newman (the closest town)
• Walk from Mt Meharry AWD Parking to Summit is a relatively basic and easy walk
• There is a log book at the summit where you can record your own comments – we did this.
• There is a Cairn and sign at the summit indicating it is the highest point in WA (interestingly, we found several different heights for Mt Meharry listed both at the summit and in other locations around WA. From 1248 – 1253m above sea level).
