Our 6-man party arrived in Tambaliza, a village in Pan de Azucar Is on April 12, 2001. The next day, we hired a guide named Dagul Atanoso and a porter and started the ascent of the trail-less South Face in the morning. Excluding time spent on rest stops, our party covered the Face mostly by scrambling in 6 hours. We set up camp on the summit and descended over the Ponting Trail in the southern side on the third day.
