This is one of the most strenuous hikes in Glacier National Park. I started from the Lake McDonald lodge and the trailhead is right across the road. This is grizzly bear country so be prepared with the spray. I did not see one but their were bear warnings for the lower part of the trail. You start on the trail to Sperry chalet and then branch off to go on the trail to the lookout.
