From a narrow road from via Collemezzo south of Montelanico, the path for this which is signposted at the turn off, the road merges into the trailhead which swings south west before proceeding more or less NNW all the way up, though with several small and broad zig-zags along the way. Rocky and well sign posted at first, the first stage is through quite thick bush but a fairly good path (although one should keep ones eye on it as there are several minor paths heading off in various directions). After the first 150 metres height ascent, or so, it becomes exposed, principally because the holm oak here has all been harvested. The ground has been severely disturbed and most of the path destroyed. Fortunately someone has placed plastic strips in the bushes which offer a way up (actually two ways, which re-join after a while). This part of the walk has a bit of a scorched earth feel to it, but eventually one re-enters mature forest and the established path (which a sign at the top suggests was created by CAI Colleferro in 2018). Here the marking is better again and one eventually reaches a large iron cross, which is somewhat appropriate given the name of the hill. This is actually a little below the top, and a short walk takes you to the highest point from which one can make out the unnamed hill further up where the path continues. Descent by same route, taking care to stick to the extemporised path and wondering how long these markers will remain, thinking it would be more tricky without them.
