Parked to the east on the curve of the road from Bassiano near the path to the refuge. Made way down forested hill, following a number of vague tracks. Crossed an obvious track marked on map and made way up east side - steep, rocky, and thick undergrowth. At various points there were orange paint markings signalling some sort of path but these were too old and infrequent to be reliable. Navigated using the general topography of the hill and a rough NW bearing. Intermittently cut bark from trees with machete to mark the way I took, although I did not end up using them on the way down. Very wild. Oh yes, and there was a rectangular concrete pillar at the top, something I've not seen before in this region.
