From Pian della Fagetta going a little up the road first (becomes excluded to vehicles 14th April to 14th Oct) took the same route I took to Monte Capreo. Rocky at first. Then a long gradual walk up small valley to the sella at the top of the ravine - essentially that between Monte Capreo and Ardicara. This I think is called Sella Mezzavalle, but it is a bit confusing. The Sella, i.e. the saddle between Ardicara and Semprevisa (my next objective, is actually the iconic outline of these hills as seen from Latina.) But anyway, before arriving at the 1350m or so junction one passes a fountain, which was dry but there might be a spring there. Beyond this there is a more direct route to the Sella (between Semprevisa and Ardicara). It wasn't really clear to me where this was, and I think there are a couple of options for a bit of a short cut. However I was happy to get to the junction sella of Mezzavalle (Capreo/Ardicara) to help orientate for the rest of the hike. From here there is something of change of direction to work oneself somewhat around the bottom of Ardicara to the Sella. I took this higher than the established path. Then to reach Ardicara curled around to the Bassiano side and somewhat spiralled to the top. There are two mini peaks here of similar height. The first, coming from the East (south) I think is more or less the official one. The weather station tripod there says 1440m. There is a small cairn and makeshift cross. The other hill has a makeshift cross. From here I continued to Monte Belvedere then went back up to the junction sellla along the north flank of Ardicara. Will put that in that hill's log.
Quite a few groups of horses, 4 or 5 to a group. Quite young foul. Quite a few ponies seen turning on their backs and rubbing them on the ground. Some odd cattle around. Well kept.
This is a nice walk from around 900m to 1350m. You are essentially in the shadow of Semprevisa and there are signs of forestry curation. Lots of options present. Capreo. Ardicara. And Semprevisa itself. The latter looks foreboding from here. But oddly so did Capreo. Its rock prominence really seemed to be higher than Aridcara could ever be.
