From Cabane de Chanrion. With Roger Robb and Rhona Fraser. Left the hut at 08:10 and walked to Fenêtre de Durand (on border with Italy). Climbed east ridge of Mont Avril, reaching the summit at 11:50. We had good views of Gran Paradiso and Mont Blanc area. Returned same way to reached the hut at ~ 14:45.
