I drove from Wodonga to Corryong and then towards Khancoban and up Swampy Plains Creek Road to Tooma Road and past Tooma Dam to the Round Mountain parking area. I decided to back track and parked off the side of the road on the northern side of Round Mountain VK2/SM-022. I picked my route carefully through the scrub, following areas of button grass where possible but some scrub bashing was required. I made it to the summit and set up at the trig. I made 15 contacts before UTC midnight (1100 EADT) and another 19 after UTC midnight. Approaching thunderstorms put paid to any prolongation of the activation. I packed up and made my way back to the car.
I drove on to the junction with Manjar Trail and awaited the arrival of my friend Rod.
I jumped in with Rod and we drove to Black Jack Trail and then towards Mount Black Jack VK2/SW-010. This peak is called Manjar on Peakery, but the official NSW maps have the name as Mount Black Jack. We parked near the locked gate and walked up to the summit, where we set up the gear. I made 12 contacts before we closed down and packed up - more thunderstorms were approaching. We wlaked back to the vehicle, drove back to my car and then we drove separately to Rod's home in Nimmitabel.
