I've hiked both Big and Little Kennesaw many times, as well as Pigeon Hill. It's a great city hike, taking much less time to get to, and complete, than any normal N. Ga. mountain hike. It's a decent, short workout, as going up and over Big, then Little and Pigeon Hill, from the Visitor Center to Burnt HIckory road, and back again, takes 2.5- 3.5 hours, depending on who I'm with. There's a nice view of Atlanta from the parking lot at the top (yes, people can drive up :(
The pic is at the top of Little K on Christmas Day afternoon. Only a handful of folks were up there, and no one was left at 4pm., when it started snowing again. It was eerily beautiful and one of the few times I've been up it when I didn't hear teens complaining, "I HATE this!" and "how much further?"
