Gorgeous day for doing a light winter scramble. It was quite gusty at the parking area but by the time I'd started up the Horseshoe Basin Trail the winds had begun to diminish and the rest of the day was absolutely fantastic. It took right around 7 hours to complete going in via the Horseshoe Basin Trail and out via the fenceline trail. As I did not take the traditional route up (not that there is one) I ended up doing a steep slope scramble up the west end and then came out via the east side. There were a few minor snow slopes on the summit approach but for the most part the entire ridge was relatively bare and made for easy walking. Enjoyed a nice break in the sun just before pushing to the final summit point which was extremely windy. Overall a fantastic way to start off the first weekend of the new year.
