Setting out north from Postbridge along the eastern bank of the East Dart River, firstly in search of the William Donaghy Memorial stone, with the intention of crossing at the East Dart Waterfall further up river and return along the western bank. My plans changed however due to river being in spate and the waterfall, plus about a km further upstream past Sandy Hole being completely uncrossable. Fast flowing and unusually deep dark water made me realise I was going to return via the same way I came. So after a spot of sheltered lunch between some rocks it was back into the wind to retrace my steps, this time taking the ridge path back rather than the river path. 13.6km. Very windy. Solo.
