Long on my list of nearby peaks yet to climb, the big issue was knowing where the proper starting point was. After doing a little research and figuring it out, I arrived at the large dirt turnout off Highway 330 which marks the starting point of Manzanita Flat Road (FR 1N09). Instead of driving on the road, I parked before passing through the vehicle gate and began the hike from there. In maybe a tenth of mile, a faint pathway leaves the road to the right and in the direction of Harrison Mountain. It was difficult to discern a clear route, and the area was also filled with shot gun shells and other target practice debris. However, just beyond this area, I could make out a trail heading up the slope. Once on the pathway, it was rather clear sailing up to a low ridge. At about halfway up the mountain the trail had some sections that were overgrown. I was still able to discern the pathway, though, so it was really just a minor inconvenience (mostly solved by crouching low through overhanging buckthorn). With all obstacles cleared, it was a quick climb to the summit. I signed the summit register and returned the way I came. I had the mountain to myself the whole time and was only the second register entry in 2021, with only a handful of visits in 2020. LPC #64/86.
