Parked on the dam at the end of the road around Loon Lake and headed up the 4WD roads and across the huge granite slabs. At the junction in a camp area we turned left to keep heading North (with a solar outhouse, no less!). It is better to pass the mountain and climb the North West face to the top, as this eliminates a lot of bushwacking. We came down that way. :-) Then headed to an unamed lake to the NW of the peak, then hike back for a nice 9 mile trip.
