Was originally going to go for Bren, but was worried about disturbing rattlesnakes in its then shadow covered western side. Made my way up the steep ascent of Golden Gate following the cairns, which were very helpful as the trail isn’t the clearest on the way up. Met another hiker up top who was surprised to see someone else up there, as apparently this one isn’t trafficked much. He pointed out that there was fresh mountain lion scat on the ridge indicating that one was in the area in the past 24 hrs. As with many of these desert peaks, views were unobstructed at the top offering great visuals of the surrounding area. Fun hike!
