It’s a steep and scenic hike up to the summit of Davy Hill from the hamlet of Cobham on the Allegheny River. You have to follow the electric line swath all the way up, mostly on public land (PA State Game Land 86). There are no vistas at the top, but there are traces of a long ago farm with grassy meadows, daffodils, and shaggy old apple trees. A row of spruce trees tells you where the farmhouse at the summit once stood—for they used to plant spruce around their houses in these highlands to protect them from the winter wind.
