My son convinces me to climb La Cruz de La Muela near the city of Orihuela along the vertical walls on the South side. Specifically along the Paso del Gato route, which has areas equipped with life cables and plugs.
I insist that he not get me into trouble because I have other things on my mind, but he ends up convincing me and says that he has the harnesses and heatsinks, etc.
When I see the rock wall the first thing I think is that it is not possible to climb up there. The second thing is that any mistake can be fatal. It's just my son and I going up that route and after some complicated step our legs shake, he tells me that's the adrenaline. It still seems impossible to me that we can continue but those who designed this route studied it in detail and the final stretch is an unequipped canal that does not allow errors either.
We reach the top with the harnesses and some mountaineers who have climbed the north side look at us as if we were ghosts while I thank God for taking care of us on the ascent.
