"Horrendous weather battered by wind and rain in an attempt to get to the Longstone Man. Managed each tor on route fine, but 30+ horned cows sitting by the standing stone put me off attempting a closer look." — MuchMoorWalking • Oct 10, 2020
"Heading north past Little Staple Tor, I headed to the collection of tors on Staple Tor, failing to climb the highest one - a rock climb. Continuing north to a col, I was soon on the summit of Roos Tor. I then contoured round south-west to a pool, and up to the summit of Cox Tor. Descending south I reached the road, following it east back to the car. Solo. Bright sunny weather, with broken cloud, but a fierce cold northerly wind.Skylarks, wheatears, and Dartmoor ponies." — marktrengove2 • May 5, 2019
"Birthday Walk: So I could choose anywhere on Dartmoor for a moderate walk with the family. At first, due to weather, I had opted to do Sheepstor. But it had turned sunny so chose to visit some big tors in the Merrivale area, as from Great Mis Tor they looked quite impressive. Parked up at Pork Hill car park and headed up to the tor. Short steep climb, the second with my 65-litre rucksack! Very rocky non-granite rock, metamorphic greenstone :) Great views and trig point cairn. Lots of horses and foals which were beautiful. Few people and really should've spent more time up there, and finding Little Cox Tor. Then again I'm 15 today and will definitely come again!" — torbagger • Nov 19, 2017
