I started up the west face from just above Kerr lake and found a very faint very narrow trail through the shale slope to the peak . There looking to the n nw I saw a stone pillar standing upright @6ft built by my father on a previous trip as well as a shepherd tending his flock in the high meadows. As I got to the top I was amazed at the fantastic view around and then proceeding to the east face I found a trail down leading e se and got a splendid view of a lake I was told to be cliff lake as it lies at the base of a large high cliff on the ne face of the peak it was a fantastic turquoise color and crystal clear. After descending the trail closer to the lake I was looking up at the cliff and spotted a small group of goats 3or4 traversing the cliff s to n about 3/4 the way up this being the edge of the San Juan wilderness I was elated to see them and even a little surprised. Having camped at the side of mix lake next to platorocolorado reservoir I had encountered and heard wilderness wildlife already.,Before my climb to the peaks summit. It was not a very strenuous climb for me at the time, having a black bear visit my camp two nites before and finding his tracks right next to the tent just outside the side where I was sleeping , not so easily after sensing his visit. Thankfully he decided to move on. And several nites after my climb hearing the unmistakeable howling of a wolf somewhere in the distance. In these mountains at nite sound carries a long ways and the howling seemed to be coming from all around making it impossible to determine from what direction. I am longing for my next return trip to the area. Can't wait,
