Drove the route south of South Shale Ridge from Debeque, then looped west of Corcoran Peak to Corcoran Wash. (fantastic hoodoos etc. at top of Hunter Canyon's east fork!) At 6600ft., north of the peak, we took very rough double track (4wd, high clearance only!) south to saddle to east of peak, approx. 7400ft. climbed the east ridge to the summit 8076ft. according to topo - 360 degree cloudless autumn Colorado skies! Could see San Juans to the south, La Sals to the southwest, Mt. Sopris to the east, and right into downtown Grand Junction beyond the Bookcliffs. Returned on roads along Corcoran Wash - South Dry Creek - Dry Creek - Roan Creek back to Debeque and I-70
