Began this walk just off the carpineto-maenza road to the west and slightly south of the summit. The road immediately becomes track and would be an adventure in itself to drive up. The track rises some 200 metres to arrive at a solid stone building next to the fontana (acqua del Carpino); it looks like it could be some sort of pumping station. This is a fairly monotonous walk. But pleasant enough next to the ravine (ignore the plastic rubbish). From here you have actually gone a little behind the mountain, so traverse around the nose north not losing height, along a mostly unmarked path (faint red arrow at start). This rounds the higher ground and takes you to a saddle where some grazing land has been established. Continue across the first paddock and one is more or less due east of the top proper. From here, although the undergrowth is dense, you can make your way up. Brambles the biggest obstacle. The top is overgrown so you should keep checking the compass to stop being turned around. A couple of great views snatched, though. Retraced steps. Not too tempted to try to orientate to one of the lower hairpins of the road, because of poor visibility and danger of getting eaten by the ravine and undergrowth.
