"A solo ascent, for a change of pace, from 431. A bit sluggish as I’m still trying to adjust to the heat/altitude combo after leaving NY a few days ago. I left the trail runners in the car and went with light boots not knowing how much snow I would encounter. The few snow patches were fun to cruise through and didn’t require the wearing of any boot. Stream crossings were easy to hop across or simply stomp through." — Nimblefoot • Jul 18, 2023
"After years of looking south and seeing the highest peaks in the Tahoe region dominating the skyline, I finally stopped making excuses (e.g., too far to drive, not enough time, eating a donut, etc.). Today was the day!
All went well except underestimated how much water to bring. Up above treeline, it was hot and hardly any shade. I knew this going in, but I drained my 2 Nalgenes way too early. Aborted attempt on South Jobs (Steve?) as dehydration started to dog me. All in all, a must-do loop in Tahoe, but be prepared for a big day with no water source most of the way. "Weekend trip to Desolation Wilderness.
After meeting up with my friends at Lake Aloha and setting up camp, we climbed Ralston Peak.
On day 2, we went around the south side of the lake and climbed up the side of Pyramid until we reached the summit trail.
We submitted Pyramid Peak and continued along the Crystal Range Traverse, we went over the sketchy class 3/4 area just below Pyramid and continued along the ridge to Peak 9686, Mt Agassiz, and Price. Then we descended down the saddle at sunset to connect up with the PCT and got back to camp at 11pm. The entire loop took about 12 hours." — timothylaurent • Jul 2, 2022
"Great hike on Saturday, a bit hazy from all the smoke, but it started clearing on our descent. I logged it at 10.62 miles from the trail head, took about 4 hours and 45 minutes including stopping at the falls and eating lunch at the summit! " — lorej22 • Jul 31, 2021
"Backpacked with group of friends, and talked them into this peak. We dropped our packs at the fork and hiked up to the peak, before dropping down to our overnight destination. The trail is nice, but has a lot of loose rock at the top. Would prob choose a day trip or access from the other side, before a backpacking attempt. The view from the top, definitely worth it!
