"Coming back from NY, 3 of us hit up Mendon for maybe Frank's NEHH finish. We started from the Bucklin Tr and followed the road. We crossed the river then followed some roads upwards. We eventually reached a point and just went up. We approached from an angle I have not done before. It was steep. The snow was somewhat firm. Sometimes we broke through and sometimes we stayed on top of it with snowshoes on. We found the summit and also went to the false bump as well. I did not realize there was a spectacular view to the south from there. We did not bother signing into the canister. We headed back down the same way we went up. " — newenglandwarrior • Jan 15, 2024
"Second time summiting Mendon. I managed to avoid the maze of wood's roads & stay on course this time getting to the top in 2 hrs. I brought my bug net, but they weren't bad & never used it. 8.6 miles & 4 hrs. total." — billsussdorff • May 17, 2021
"What an adventure!! I'm glad I printed the route directions because I would've been lost in the labyrinth of old logging roads &
herd paths. I actually veered off the herd path near the top & ended up having to squeeze through the underbrush to get to
the top. Great views from the middle peak with Killington, Pico, Ascutney, etc in full view. I was surprised to meet a couple on
the way down who were from NH & trying to finish NE's 100 highest." — billsussdorff • Jul 24, 2019
"It was Denise's NEHH finish. I drove out to VT the night before. Myself, Denise, Nick, and Marielle bushwacked up Mendon. Quick ascent. We then bushwacked down and quickly lost the flagged route. We bushwacked to the river, then followed the river until we reached the point where we crossed earlier. We ran into some stinging nettles along the way. I drove back to Portsmouth that night." — newenglandwarrior • Jul 8, 2016
"After changing my plans, I decided to take advantage of the little snow we've had to do a bushwack. Dealt with ankle deep snow to reach Mendon. Then bushwacked over to the Long Trail. " — newenglandwarrior • Feb 23, 2016
