"59th ultra prominent peak 🗻
19/100 日本百名山 🏔️ Nihon Hyaku-meizan
22/200 ⛰️ Nihayku-meizan
7 peak day! Misen -> Hakkyōgatake -> Myōjōgatake -> Bushyōgatake -> Kujakudake -> Shakagatake -> Dainichidake
Felt super fast going up the first two peaks. The trail along the ridge was quite treacherous by Japanese standards. The last peak was a 5.3 rhyolite face, but I used the metal cheater sling on the friction crux. I would feel very silly falling there with aid available. " — seancasserly • Apr 22, 2023
"15/100 🏔 日本百名山 🇯🇵 Nihon Hyaku-meizan
Ultra-prominent peak #57 🌋🗻⛰
Akadake (P6k) -> Yokodake -> Ioudake -> Neishdake -> Tengudake, Higashi mine -> Tengudake, Nishi mine (Nihyaku-meizan #17/200)
Yatsugatake more appropriately refers to the mountain range while Akadake is the range high point. Did this as a point to point with my friend Jon Rogozen, who moved to Tokyo earlier this summer. We had the advantage of having cell phone service and my wife down in Hara with a car. This allowed us to easily arrange our pick up. We started a kilometer beyond Yatsugatake Sanso. My mother-in-laws car could not complete the drive to the Minoto Lodge. We exited at Kosen Karasawa Yatsugatake. Absolutely beautiful hike!" — seancasserly • Aug 25, 2022
"Unprepared, I headed to nishimine which had a significant amount of snow and ice. Had I known, I probably would've brought crampons. In any case, I peaked, took a few photos, and proceeded to go down. It was bloody cold!" — graceydesu • Feb 17, 2013
"After a train ride from Tottori City. We took a bus to Hyono-Sen. When we got our map we walked with help from the local populous to the start of the alpine route. We followed a route via a few river crossings, and some nice frogs and toads. After a wander up we used some chains until we got to the top. Unfortunately took a wrong path back down and ended up on the other side of the mountain. Took ages to get back to Tottori City. " — steverd • Jul 9, 2007
"An early start from Tenkawa. A drive taking us to Totsukawa and a carpark at the base of the mountain. Our group of 6 continued up the hill onto a clearing which went through some woods and back into clearings. The route continued northwards to the top of the mountain which had a big statue of Buddha on top." — steverd • Jul 29, 2006
