Cascade Mountain is a very popular and fairly boring hike in the summer. I always wanted to do it in the winter conditions. Attempted first time 5 years ago but I brought microspikes instead of crampons (bad bad idea!). Had to turn back.
This time I was fully geared. Crampons and ice-axe came handy. Still, I wish I had a second ice-axe for the 1st crux (concrete solid icy snow required extra caution). Luckily, the snow was a bit softer on 2 other cruxes. Otherwise, Brett and I would not have succeeded.

This mountain requires extra caution in the winter condition. A slip can send you down the snowy slopes straight to TransCanada highway 1500m below. It is a mountaineering ascent.
