From the Sangree Froehlicher hut David nickel and I snowshoed up the south ridge to the summit, descended the east ridge and traversed over to and across the southeast ridge, then over to the south ridge, climbing out of a steep bowl to gain the ridge again not far above the hut. The temperature was in the low 20s but with a brisk southwest wind, felt colder than that. The total distance was 5 miles, mostly on firm snow but in places we had to wade through thigh-deep depth hoar. The snowpack was stable even on steep slopes. Afterwards I was quite depleted.
