Buckbarrow is a prominent small peak from the minor road and from Wastwater, but is in fact a rocky outlying peak from the higher grassy peak of Seatallan. We ascended this peak whilst walking a circular route from Greendale near Wastwater. The route involved the ascent of Middle Fell, then Seatallan, then heading SW to the minor summits to Cat Bields and Glade How, then onto the summit of Buckbarrow, which has steep cliffs & gullies down to the road. We descended by Gill Beck to Harrow Head, then walked along the minor road back to our start point. The weather was good all day, with extensive views throughout the walk of the Wasdale hills, including Scafell Pikes and Scafell and W to the Irish Sea.
